When we decided to build our house, I knew this room would make the perfect sitting room. It’s on the front of the house, so it gets a ton of sunlight throughout the day. On move in day, I proudly sat my oversized chairs and ottomans in this room, decorated it, and called it a day.

Then we had Luke, and everything changed. Suddenly, this room wasn’t getting any use at all. I used to spend my mornings curled up in one of these chairs, sipping my coffee while answering emails. Now, I’m lucky if I can even finish one cup of coffee without having to reheat it first.

So, being the creative person I am, I started to think of how else I could use this space (and more importantly, how I could use my favorite chairs somewhere else!). That’s when I decided to move my chairs and ottomans to the living room, where I spend most of my time at home, and make this front room a playroom. It’s the perfect place for Luke to play while I’m doing things around the house, unloading groceries, or getting some work done.

I couldn’t be more pleased with how this room turned out! Not only is it pretty, but it has so much functionality (helloooo storage cubes!). I was able to furnish and style this room for under $500, thanks to HomeGoods and Target.

Can you believe it’s almost May?! This year is flying by, and I guess that’s what happens when you have a new baby.

Even though we moved into our house about six months ago, our bedroom still felt like we’d just moved in. At 35 weeks pregnant with zero creative juices left, I decorated it exactly as I did in our old house. Which was pretty, it just lacked personality.

See what I mean? Pretty, but kind of….blah. I haven’t updated our bedding in a couple of years, so when my mom made some Christmas returns and told me I had some leftover money to spend, I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it: order new bedding!

We’re on a tight budget right now with a new baby and a pup who has some health issues going on, which means free is pretty much the only way I was going to be able to update our bedroom without David’s head exploding.

My mom came to visit for a week while David was away on a work trip, so we took that opportunity to shop around my house for existing decor that we could use to spruce up the bedroom.

All-in-all, this update cost me a grand total of $50! I spent $30 on the monogrammed pillow and another $20 on new pillow inserts.

It’s finally November, which means it’s baby month! I’m due with our son Luke exactly one week from today (Nov. 9). I’ve been having false labor for about a week, so I’m crossing my fingers we’re getting close to the finish line.

Baby Luke’s nursery is my favorite project to date. I got out of my farmhouse style comfort zone and went with a more modern/Bohemian look. Since babies don’t come cheap, I did my best to shop for deals and save where I could. Sources are linked at the bottom if you’d like to shop this post.
