Working with a fellow military spouse design and decorate her new construction house was a dream come true. Read about how I turned this Hampstead new construction house into April’s family’s home sweet home.
The Marine Corps spouse network is my tribe. It’s where most of my clients find me, through word of mouth or straight-up referral. I love these people; they’re go-getters, hardcore mama (and daddy!) bears, pick-yourself-up-by-the-bootstraps kind of folks. And they’re always fun to work with because they trust me to help turn their house into their home for the next 2-3 years – or however long the Marine Corps decides to let them stay!
So when I heard from April back in November that she and her family were relocating to the area from Boston, I was over-the-moon excited to help her. She and her husband were under contract for a beautiful two-story new construction in Hampstead, NC with a move-in timeframe of Christmas.
Most of our initial work (i.e. the BIG stuff like sofas, beds, rugs, etc.) was done virtually, and then once they moved in, we met in person and had the most fun day shopping for everything else. Not only was this a dream job because we basically started from scratch, but April is so much fun and we quickly became friends.

Shopping Day!
We had the BEST time shopping together in Wilmington. I think I surprised April with how much we were able to check off our shopping list in just one day. HomeGoods didn’t know what hit them!
The best purchase of the day was a fuzzy pink pouf for her daughter’s room. As soon as her daughter saw it, it was love at first sight. She even thanked Jesus for her “pink fluffy thing” in her prayers that night. Bless.

This was a HUGE project, but it was definitely a labor of love. April and her family are the absolute sweetest, and it makes my heart so happy to know they feel settled in their new home.
