Last month, I was fortunate enough to go visit David in Italy and we found out together that we’re expecting a baby BOY!
Now that we know a baby boy is on the way, I can finally design his nursery! I had envisioned exactly what I wanted for a girl nursery, but for some reason had the hardest time coming up with a plan for baby boy.
Inspiration
When in doubt, Pinterest is always full of inspiration. I knew I didn’t want anything themed that was too “boy-ish” like dinosaurs, trucks, or sports. It may be a boy nursery, but it can still be pretty!
After spending some time online, I realized I was drawn to neutral colors and a “bohemian farmhouse” look. I also apparently really like bunnies. 😄
Design Plan
I used the floor plan for our new house and a program named Home By Me to get the basic design and space planning mapped out. Seeing everything put together like this was super helpful and confirmed my vision for the space.
I purchased a vintage chest that I’m going to paint a matte charcoal grey, the crib will be white, and I want a natural wood mid-century modern dresser to use as the changing table.
Going Shopping
My mom, mother-in-law and I spent a few days at AmericasMart in Atlanta, and it was a great opportunity to look and shop for nursery decor. I felt like I just needed one purchase to get the ball rolling, and I found the perfect thing to shape the rest of the nursery around: adorable animal watercolors!
I absolutely fell in love with these little guys and I even got to meet the artist! I ordered a few of my favorites and chose antique brass frames. They will be perfect hanging in the nursery above the crib.
As predicted, this purchase was just the inspiration I needed to get started. While we were in Atlanta, we went to Pottery Barn Kids (because why not?) and I picked out our glider/recliner. This is the most comfortable chair I think I’ve ever sat in! I see many nights spent in this chair in my future.
We’re considering ordering a sectional from Pottery Barn, so if we do, we will order both items in the same fabric so we can put the chair in the living room once we don’t need it in the nursery. Furniture is an investment, so we’re trying to think long term!
Once we got home from AmericasMart, we picked out the crib and dresser/changing table. We’re ordering both from Wayfair, and it’s always helpful to be able to read reviews and see real life photos of the items in other people’s homes.
The bedding I picked out online from Pottery Barn Kids is from the Sleepy Sheep collection. I had it on our registry, but as soon as I found out they’re discontinuing the collection, I went ahead and ordered the crib sheet and skirt. The skirt is the cutest thing I’ve ever seen!
I’m so excited to have these big pieces taken care of, and I can’t wait to see it all come together when we move into our new house. Closing is set for early September and I can hardly wait!
